Caliola delivers operationally relevant solutions and best-in-class engineering
services to customers across the US Government.
Mission Critical Links Powered

We are experts in military satellite communications (MILSATCOM); waveform design; modernized High Frequency (HF) communications; alternate positioning, navigation, and timing (A-PNT); automated communications and mission planning; and secure networking.
Every day, Caliolans support Department of War and NATO strategic communications. As a small business, we are already delivering mission-critical communications capabilities to multiple Navy Programs of Record.

Caliolans have insight. We aren't just good problem solvers; we also know what problems are worth solving. We are empathetic. We strive to get better as individuals, as teams, and as an organization.
Caliolans are innovative. We solve complex technical problems and address operational issues quickly, collaboratively, and creatively.
Caliolans have integrity. We are professional, responsive, and disciplined. Caliolans hold each other accountable. We stand by the commitments that we make to our customers and to each other.

Caliolans support Air Force and Space Force protected military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) at Peterson SFB, Offutt AFB, and Patch Barracks, Germany. The senior-ranking veterans, systems, and security engineers doing this mission-critical work ensure that our software and hardware engineers develop products that are operationally relevant.
Strategic Communications
Caliola is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the High Frequency (HF) band. In 2024. we closed a 300-kbps link between Colorado and Tampa, showing that HF can provide a genuine “PACE without space” alternative. Through our work with the Navy, Air Force, and DARPA, we have assembled a test capability that includes mobile, tower-mounted antennas, and nationwide spectrum access.
Strategic Communications
Caliolans made significant contributions to the design of the TSM™ and MIL-STD-188-148B mesh waveforms. Recently, we have focused on enhancing the physical and data link layers of the Navy's Tactical Targeting Networking Technology (TTNT) mesh waveform. With $5M in SBIR Phase III funding from the OUSD(R&E) APFIT program, our first TTNT upgrades will fly on F/A-18s, EA-18Gs, and E-2Ds in 2026.
Mesh Networking
Caliola is developing communications planners for several Navy Program of Record systems. Working with the mission planners at US Pacific Fleet and US Fleet Forces Command, we develop user interfaces and experiences that demystify complex, mesh-capable MILSATCOM and HF modems. Our communications planning software will support Fleet operations starting in 2026.
Mesh Networking
Caliola works with the US Air Force, US Space Force, US Navy, US Marine Corps, OUSD(R&E), and NATO, and with preferred large prime contractors. Why do they choose us?
Caliola is connected. We have deep expertise in mission-critical communication and unparalleled reach back into the operational community.

Purpose-driven companies don't just have more engaged employees; they outperform their competitors, too.
According to Deloitte research cited by Forbes, purpose-driven companies report a 30 percent increase in innovation rates, as well as a higher annual return on equity than their non-mission-driven peers.
For Senior Systems Engineer Travis, the purpose-driven culture at Caliola Engineering gives him a sense of pride.
"My work gives me a feeling of responsibility to the communications community and our national security, which gives me a sense of pride," Travis said. "This creates a strong purpose-driven culture, where everyone in the organization understands the gravity and significance of their contributions."

From the apprentice of a craftsman to a fellow studying under the guidance of a scholar, the mentee and mentor relationship stands the test of time.
A survey by the American Society for Training and Development found that 75 percent of executives point to mentors as the origin of their success stories. Forbes noted that 90 percent of employees with a mentor report being more happy at work.
When done well, the experience of finding a mentor — or a team of them — can be a transformative experience. Which is exactly where Bryan, an early career research scientist, is in his professional journey.
"My expert coworkers are fantastic mentors who help me apply the ideas that I learned about in school to real-world applications," Bryan said. "The difference between theory and application can be significant, and having help during that transition is invaluable."
